Short answer: it’s difficult to say.
Earlier this morning, I mentioned how Wii U games look graphically on par with the Xbox 360 and PS3, and noted how it’s nice and all, but nothing to get too excited about.
Still, given how the next-generation of consoles probably won’t look all that dramatically different from what we have today, perhaps it’s not such a big deal after-all. Also, given how Wii ports are always the inferior version of multi-platform releases, that should no longer be the case, right?
I tried to investigate the matter myself, and found this following YouTube clip that compares Black Ops 2 for the Wii U against the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 versions at the same time…
Right off the back, the Wii U version looks super solid. To a certain extent, it’s even better than the other versions. Problem is, we have no idea which one we're looking at. Can’t be all of them, since anyone familiar with the game can tell you that they look noticeably different amongst each other.
And if you check the YouTube comments, you’ll find the usual petty bickering among fanboys who swear an allegiance with their favorite game company, despite not getting paid a penny for producing such impassioned rhetoric on their behalf.
The point is this: we’re going to see plenty of people tell you that the Wii U is graphically superior to everything else, along with others saying that it’s a POS when it comes to visuals. Just know this: it’s more than serviceable.
Though I say this before the PS4 launches with yet another Tomb Raider reboot starring an ultra photo realistic looking Zooey Deschanel (sorry, but I have a real thing for her), so my opinions might totally change later down the road.
