Microsoft wants the Kinect to take over your entire living room Jan 10th 2013, 20:40 At this year’s CES, Microsoft is again trying to use Kinect to take game immersion to the next level projecting what’s happening outside of your TV set’s frame into the rest of your living room. Dubbed the Xbox IllumiRoom Concept, and it’s basically a super ghetto (or should I say, very early step towards) Holodeck, a la Star Trek: Next Generation… It’s a neat idea, but given how so many people already huge ass televisions these days, or at least hardcore gamers (which this is targeted at), the set-up seems a bit unnecessary. Also, I don’t even want to know what a projector like the one being used would cost, and that’s not even factoring installation. But hey, one major driving force towards technological innovation is when people make somewhat redundant and goofy stuff for others to refine and improve upon.
