One of my most anticipated movies of next year is Shane Carruth’s Upstream Color, a bizarre sci-fi romance about two people who become connected to a mysterious, inhuman entity. That’s pretty vague, but the trailer sure makes it seem interesting. Carruth’s last film, Primer, was a miracle – a low-budget time travel movie that captivated because of ideas, not special effects. With a little more money to work with, who knows what this guy could be capable of? Upstream Color premieres at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and will be in wide release on March 22, 2013.
