Black Friday isn’t just for broke people trying to get the deal of the century. The line to buy Goose Island’s Bourbon County coffee and cherry rye on Friday was wrapped around the liquor store.
While not quite as impressive as people waiting in line for days outside Best Buy or Apple, these beer drinkers weren’t looking for a deal at all. They simply wanted to opportunity to buy a couple of the best beers on the planet, and standing outside Binny’s in Chicago was the only way that was going to happen. By the lack of police reports, it was a much more peaceful shopping experience than at Walmart, where the worst in people tends to come out. Hopefully they were at least smart enough to bring flasks and ostomy bags. It seems appropriate for a liquor store line.
